I just bought a marvelous companion for my 2 string bass. A Phil Jones "Double 4" amplifier. It is a miraculous advance in Amp technology. This little red wonder makes the bass sound like a big standup four string. I had installed a MiSi pickup in the bass. Its 70 watts really make it bellow, but with incredible clarity. I have been having lots of fun playing with it and through it in the last two days.
Here it is just out of the box. It only weighs 8.8 pounds, it can sit vertically like this or horizontally, It is 6 1/2 high, 11 inches long and 8 inches from front to back. About the size of a shoe box, but boy does it sound great.
What I like best about it is its clarity and quality of sound and how sensitive it makes playing the bass. I can just touch a string and get a perfect note, (or not). It can even be powered by a computer reserve battery charger so it can be played anywhere.

Works great with my tenor uke w/ MiSi pickup too
