A BUSY WORKSHOP

The workshop is looking like a factory here, but the two tenors in the foreground were mailed off to Gary and Sandra in California yesterday and the work table has a little more room now.
Picture
I am sanding the back edges of # 135, 136 & 137 on this big piece of sandpaper.  Sanding them down so that the backs will fit perfectly on each.
Picture
I ought to have a slowly revolving machine to do this sanding on, but for now-just lots of hand work.
Picture
Heres one ready for the back, but first we must add the side sound port.  I put these in all of my ukuleles, Think they make a big improvement.
Picture
Carefully position the guide ring-draw a pencil line around it for reference- and get out the dremel.
Picture
Cut the rough hole with a drill bit
Picture
then put a sanding disk in the Dremel, and very carefully grind away to fit the oval ring.
Picture
After very careful grinding the oval run fits almost perfectly.
Picture
Now it is a simple matter to lock it into place with superglue dispensed by this pipette.  A little sanding inside and out and tomorrow I can begin to box these ukuleles up.

I'd like to add a side sound port into my tenor ukulele. Do you make your own hardwood rings? Or do you have a source for those you'd be willing to share?
