Here is a shot sent me by George Thomas who caught me at the G.A.L. convention demonstrating my big bass connected to an amplifier. This instrument sounds great over the amp, and is delightfully easier to play as just a touch of a string brings the note.
Last night I attached the white/black/white purfling using super glue. It was very successful and very easy with that quick setting superglue. Now it is ready for the binding.
The top binding is attached. Here you see the sticky tape used to hold it tight in the groove until the glue sets. I also use clamps in sensitive places.
this is the tough spot, the sharp curve at the waist. I like to use this little clamp helper to push the binding in tight at that difficult place. Tomorrow the bottom binding and end piece.
This afternoon Marya and I drove to Lynden for lunch. What a beautiful drive through the countryside with "the Great White Watcher", Mt Baker magnificent in the East. This great volcanic peak dominates our county and highlights the beauty of this place we call home. Notice the tiny plume of steam rising from the still active vent. It is the little dab of white to the right of the summit.
