A BENDING BREAK

Bending sides is always a challenge.  Mahogany is a tough wood to bend.  This piece just didn't seem to want to, so it broke  yet its mate bent grudgingly without breaking.  Oh well!

Fortunately I have a pretty good supply of mahogany and I simply selected another piece, cut it into two sides and began again.  This time I sanded it down a little thinner, or maybe it was just better wood, but it bent much more willingly.  Took about an hour to cut it, trim it ,thin it, and mark it for bending

The result was two perfect sides for #139.

Next was shaping a couple of butt blocks and gluing them to the soundboards.  But first I wanted to burn in the name, date and number so out came the old wood burning set from the days of making duck decoys.

It looks like you were busy today Brian. Shame about the wood not giving in when it was needed. You are not one to be deterred in the middle of a project. Good to see your determination pulling a straight line heading towards the finish line. I have all the confidence in your work as you prove yourself all the time.
