I am back to the workshop after a wonderful Easter weekend on San Juan Island. Thought you might enjoy a look at some of the special sights.
I grew up spending weekends on this island-you wonder how to instill a love of wood in a youngster- let them beach comb the incredible beaches of San Juan Island. You find great whittling wood here, Cedar, Spruce, Fir, Alaska Cedar. burls, beaver chewed sticks. I can spend hours just looking for a treasure
The thrill of the weekend was this magnificent male Orca that leisurely swam by just 75 feet off shore as we were enjoying cocktails on the deck. He swam into view, then did a complete circle and here he is swimming away. He was closer than this initially. A moving and exciting experience.
