This vital part of the instrument is cut from a hard wood, this one is Ebony
This baritone fretboard first received its fret slots and then was sawn to the tapered shape. Next a slight radius was sanded onto its surface. Then the metal frets are cut and tapped into the slots with Titebond glue on each tang. Two slots are left empty to accept brads which will prevent the fretboard from slipping when clamped and glued to the neck.
Each fret end is then rounded and smoothed with a tiny file
finally glue is applied and the fretboard is clamped to the neck held in place by the two brads.
