MAKING NECKS

Ukulele necks are made of stable yet light woods like Honduran Mahogany.  
These necks were cut from 3 by 3 inch square blocks 18 inches long

Each Mahogany block was cut into two neck blanks on the band saw

Next the eventual shape is drawn on the blanks and the center line established

The guide is clamped on, the router is ready to cut the groove for the carbon fiber rod

The groove is cut,  carbon fiber rod fits,   the neck is now ready for the final shaping cut
