This tenor uke body is entirely made of Lutz Spruce
Lutz Spruce (Picea Lutzi) is a hybrid of Sitka Spruce and Englemann Spruce that only grows in several locations in British Columbia and Alaska. It is reputed to make superior instrument soundboards.
I am building the entire body with Lutz as an experiment. The neck is Alaska Cedar, a very light but strong and stable wood. It will be fun to hear what it sounds like. The blue tape is to protect the sides when edges are trimmed with the router.
This Lutz is rare indeed because of the distinct " bear claw" figure. This great wood came from Pacific Rim Tonewoods.
