A instrument builder/handyman friend in the mid-west, Dale, is going to be the means of my improving my very crude pipe bender. I have used from time to time a basic bender for small jobs or sharp bends. I made it from a hunk of pipe from the hardware store threaded into a flange, mounted on a piece of wood held in my vice. For heat I just shoot a propane torch in the opening. Awkward, probably dangerous, and difficult to set up and use.
Dale has a better idea, a welder, he is sending me a 12 inch pipe with a cap welded to the end. He also located and pointed out a heater used in soldering pipe on Ebay which I ordered and received today. You might want to watch the series of blog posts that will show how this gear is turned into a bender on the cheap.
Here is what came in the mail today from Ebay. cost me $1.00 plush shipping
