It began this morning with boxing up Klaus's uke for Hamburg Germany.
The uke lies inside its Crossrock hard case-inside the heavy cardboard box the case came in, surrounded by two layers of half inch bubble wrap, and bits of wadded paper and bubble packing and finally protected by this very heavy cardboard box that I fabricated. I sure hope it gets to Germany safely.
Next we fabricated this clamping device to glue a thin layer of mahogany veneer to the soft spalted but beautiful back of a tenor for Nik, the fellow who brought us the wonderful Fountain District spalted Maple. This ought to clamp them tightly together.
Then I fit a bone nut for this baritone, fit the spalted maple peg head plate and glued it on.
Then it was time to plot out the neck for Nik's tenor and saw it out on the bandsaw.
The carving will begin tomorrow because I needed to get the big box off to Germany and pick up the hearts for Timark's fretboard from Bay engraving. Whew!, a busy morning
